Darry Beckwith Jr.

The dePths of DBF

Founder, Darry Beckwith knows first-hand about the struggles and successes that are evident in the sporting world. He’s had ups and downs during his career as a football player, and it is his dream to support student athletes along their path to a fulfilling life.

While attending LSU, he earned All-SEC honors for two years and was a Butkus award finalist (nations top linebacker). Unfortunately, his dreams of becoming a top NFL draft pick were soon derailed by a knee injury.

As an undrafted free agent, Darry played for the San Diego Chargers and was released at the end of two years. Not giving up, he continued to pursue his dreams - working out for various NFL teams only to be told, “We have to let you go.” His dreams were shattered. He didn’t know what to do nor did he know his purpose in life. At times, he felt like it was the end of the road. This was a lifelong dream. To see it dissolve before his very eyes was one of the hardest challenges he had to face. But through faith in God and prayer, Darry now has a passion to help student athletes realize that there are numerous avenues to success when sports does not work out as they had planned. The Darry Beckwith Foundation was established in 2015 to break shortsighted mentalities and create winning attitudes in every student-athlete, so they are able to see that success is just not connected to sports.
